What is a family loan contract?
A family loan contract records who is lending, who is borrowing and how the money will be repaid. You may also know it as a family loan agreement. Chipkie’s document for Australia is a Loan Deed: a shared record of the amount, dates and repayment terms you agree together.

Is a family loan agreement the same as a family loan contract?
People use both terms when looking for a written agreement about lending money to someone they know. The legal form of the document still matters. Chipkie provides a Loan Deed for Australia; review that document and its terms before signing.
Can I use it for a loan between friends?
Yes. The Loan Deed is for money lent between family or friends. Both sides agree the terms, enter them in Chipkie and review the document before signing.
Can the loan include interest?
You can enter interest if you choose to charge it, and the repayment schedule reflects the terms you provide. Check the rules that apply to your circumstances before agreeing the rate.
What do I receive with the contract?
The purchase includes a signed PDF once every party has signed, a full repayment schedule, an evidence pack and a demand-letter template.
Does Chipkie provide the money?
Chipkie is not a lender and provides no credit. The money is lent between the people named in the loan; Chipkie helps you record the agreement.
When would I need a loan release?
A loan release is a separate document for closing a Chipkie loan after it has been repaid in full. Start with the loan contract when you are agreeing the loan terms.
Start with a shared understanding.
Agree the details together. Then give your family loan a clear written record.
